Quarterly Workshop: Pop-up or Permanent – Placemaking Makes a Difference

Challenge the complexities of modern life through placemaking! Places with interesting architectural details, cultural identity, and nature offer residents and visitors a breathing space to relax and connect with each other and the place itself. Historic commercial districts that prioritize cultivating inviting spaces in this manner see economic and health booms.

During this workshop, AARP will help you discover the possibilities of your public spaces as thriving, charming hubs of activity through pop-up and permanent amenities.

Discover how placemaking can enhance the thriving atmosphere of your downtown by adding depth to its existing charm. Through engaging discussions and real-life examples from Missouri and beyond, we’ll explore these essential questions: Why does placemaking matter? When is the right time to start? Who should be involved? And most importantly, how do we make it happen?

There are endless possibilities for communities of all sizes to revolutionize spaces in their built environment to serve a higher purpose of connecting people with each other and their past while contributing to the economic and social growth of their community.

We invite you to start the journey of placemaking with us at this workshop and shape the future of your community and Missouri! Placemaking takes time from gathering input to implementation and maintenance, but we believe the best time to start is now!
