PAUL BRUHN HISTORIC REVITALIZATION SUBGRANT PROGRAM

Missouri Main Street Connection was awarded a $748,752 Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization grant from the National Park Service to assist property owners in rehabilitating their historic properties through a subgrant program.

Through the funding received, Missouri Main Street Connection awarded over $600,000 in subgrants with an average of $46,280 awarded to recipient property owners. These fuds will support their projects to improve the exterior of their buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

As this grant continues to be implemented, MMSC anticipates the visual improvement of historic properties in rural Main Street communities across the state to impact the overall look of each Main Street district by spurring improvements of surrounding properties outside of grant funded projects. As we know, visual improvements often have a domino effect. In addition to the overall look, MMSC also anticipates a boost in economic development from the preservation of the selected historic buildings in rural communities as buildings are activated to be used for business recruitment and fostering an ecosystem of success.
