Main Street Movers – Men of Main Street

Logan Breer | November 19, 2025

Missouri’s Main Streets have great male role models. As essential community members to a district’s broad-based community commitment to revitalization, they collaboratively utilize Main Street America’s Main Street Approach™ to revitalize Missouri’s Main Streets. In doing so they create thriving, vibrant economic and cultural hubs.

Meet some of the volunteers from Main Street communities who are Main Street Movers that model a strong sense of ownership and how to make a local impact that makes Missouri and their historic commercial districts a special and safer place for everyone. The following individuals, among many others, have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to inspire others to action.

John Vietmeier, Missouri Main Street Connection & Downtown Washington, Inc.

Prior to retirement, John worked for St. Francis Borgia Parish in Washington. While working at the parish he served in two positions, including the Business Manager and Project Manager. He shared, “Living and working in Downtown Washington was a long-time hope. To actually be working on Main Street was a dream come true.” In addition to his role with St. Francis Borgia, John is a long-time volunteer with Downtown Washington, Inc. He served in various roles, including volunteer, committee member, board member, and president.

Being a part of these two organizations allowed John to make an impact on his community as John recalls, “I had a great opportunity to be involved in the renovation of the West End of Main Street. Expanding the parking around St. Francis Borgia and partnering with the city for parking lot improvements and maintenance. Installing electric service throughout the parking area to serve both parish and community events.” On top of expanding parking and electrical service, John was a part of several renovation projects at the parish that added a beautiful ballroom, enhanced the aesthetic of the area, and inspired other developments in Washington, such as the Farmers Market located directly across Main Street.

John has been an instrumental leader in Washington, being a model of how to dedicate your time, energy, and resources to make your community better for others to enjoy.

Taylor Moore, Missouri Main Street Connection & St. Charles Main Street Foundation

Taylor Moore is the Preservation Planner for the City of St. Charles. As the city’s Preservation Planner, he wears several different hats. According to Taylor, “I serve as the liaison for the Landmarks Board, the Local Historic Commission, serve as the liaison for the Main Street Special Business District, and administer the Façade Grant Program for the city.” These roles allow him to oversee the permitted work within the city’s local and national historic districts, review site plans for development and redevelopment, assist property owners through the various stages of the façade grant process, and work with merchants and property owners.

Taylor is also a committee member on Missouri Main Street Connection’s Historic Preservation Committee, where he’s enjoyed contributing over the past year. He shared, “I look forward to supporting communities across the state through the opportunities this role provides.”

Taylor is starting a blossoming career where he can make a local impact using his time, energy, and skills.

Michael Ollinger, Downtown Marceline Foundation

Michael Olinger is an active and dedicated community leader who serves as President of the Downtown Marceline Board of Directors. With an extensive business background and a deep-rooted love for Marceline, Michael brings both professional expertise and personal passion to every project he undertakes.

Michael plays a key role in the success of Downtown Marceline’s revitalization efforts. He spearheads their annual Car Show, one of their most popular and well-attended events and works tirelessly to strengthen partnerships with local business owners and community organizations such as the Fraternal Order of Eagles. As both a Main Street property owner and advocate for preservation, his commitment to maintaining the charm and vitality of their historic district is evident in everything he does. His leadership and enthusiasm continue to inspire progress and pride along Main Street USA.

These highlights are just the tip of the iceberg. Across the state, individuals contribute their unique talents for the success of their community. As a result, they have a positive impact on the overall success of Missouri. We are truly better when we come together.  If your organization is located in a Main Street community that has an agreement with MMSC, contact Logan Breer at logan@momainstreet.org for information on how to be highlighted in future #Mainstreetmonday posts or articles as they are relevant.
