Shared Missions Driving the Success of Missouri
Connect with two Missouri programs to assist your local community! The shared mission between the State of Missouri’s Department of Economic Development, AmeriCorps, and the Main Street Approach™ work to improve the lives, businesses, and buildings in your community through available funding and skilled volunteers.
Brittany Stiffler-Crabtree, Executive Director of AmeriCorps Missouri, will discuss their AmeriCorps Grant and its upcoming grant application deadlines. These three-year grants include funding that covers staffing, such as administrative funding, to oversee the recruitment and oversight of AmeriCorps members. The size of AmeriCorps grants varies, from $100,000 to $1M+, depending on the community need and program design/size. Additionally, this grant has the potential to be renewed. Â Through this grant, AmeriCorps desires to partner with non-profits and other entities that engage in evidence-informed practices to strengthen communities by investing in economic opportunities and uniting Americans through service.
Brandon Jenson, Program Manager for the State of Missouri’s Community Solutions Division, will dive into the Downtown Revitalization (DTR) program. This program is through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and is a funding opportunity for eligible Missouri communities to engage in revitalization efforts to renew and restore downtown areas as a center of community activity. Through this program, the State of Missouri seeks to catalyze investment in Missouri’s rural downtowns that will increase community and economic activities within locally significant cultural and historic downtowns. This presentation will provide an overview of the program, the typical application, project timeline, and tips for writing a strong application.
