Main Street is beneficial to everyone in a historic commercial district and its surrounding community. Download an introduction to Main Street and MMSC’s Tier System to better understand the benefits of available to your district and community.
Designated Tiers
Accredited Communities have a Main Street program that meets the six Main Street America criteria of excellence as evaluated by an annual assessment of local Main Street program, their community support, and partners.
Associate Communities have a Main Street program that is working towards National Accreditation by continuing to build support, financial resources, and a strong volunteer base.
Affiliate Communities have a Main Street program that is continuing to build its foundation and grow the economic vitality of their downtown district.
Community Empowerment Grant Communities are establishing their Main Street program and building a foundation through the Community Empowerment Grant to grow the economic vitality of their downtown district.
Communities that participated in Missouri Main Street Trainings are aspiring downtown districts with a variety of community commitment and readiness levels who have attended a training to learn how to utilize the Main Street Approach™ or reached out to Missouri Main Street Connection for a range of services and assistance.
Additional Tier Pathways
St. Louis Main Street Pilot Program: Created in 2019, this pathway provided three pilot districts in St. Louis specific programming from MMSC that adapted principles from Main Street America’s UrbanMain™ program with MMSC’s hands-on guidance to compliment the main Street Approach™.
