Get Your Kicks on Main Street at Missouri’s Premier Downtown Revitalization Conference

This year’s Missouri’s Premier Downtown Revitalization Conference brings “Get Your Kicks on Main Street” to St. Charles, MO. Our team chose this theme after carefully considering where Missouri’s Main Streets need to be in the future, alongside national trends. We see our Main Streets as picturesque places full of inspiring stories and fun experiences that bring locals and visitors together to live, work, invest, and play while boosting the local economy.
Stories and Experiences
Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) aims to inspire incredible experiences and illustrate place-based storytelling through the sessions, events, and activities offered during the Missouri’s Premier Downtown Revitalization Conference including the keynote and breakout sessions, Opening Evening Reception, ShowMe Bash & Pitch Party, and Evening of Excellence. From venues to programming, our conference will offer experiences that will leave you inspired to implement in your own historic commercial district. Check out the details for each of the events and activities that will take place at Missouri’s Premier Downtown Revitalization Conference when they are released on April 1st.
Our team is working with Discover St. Charles to revamp our annual theme experience, previously a raffle with prizes geared toward the theme, into a scavenger hunt that will provide an opportunity for attendees to explore St. Charles Main Street for a chance at a fantastic prize that will be announced later. Stay tuned for more details.
The gallery is a returning conference experience. This year it will be called the “Signs of the Times” photo gallery and feature a new collection of photographs and stories. MMSC is currently accepting submissions until June 15th for photos and stories of a location in a Missouri downtown centered around its signage, which can be vintage, rehabbed, or new including: neon, ghost signs, wayfinding or street signs, murals, or business signs. Get Your Kicks on Main Street
“Get Your Kicks on Main Street” will shine a light on Missouri’s historic commercial districts’ captivating stories, stellar experiences, and unique characteristics. Through the overarching promotional theme, attendees will learn about implementing the four points of the Main Street Approach™—Design, Organization, Promotion, and Economic Vitality— in unison to shape how to collect and share your district’s stories; empower volunteers to foster community connections infused with history and character; and feature the unique qualities of your district as a great place to live, work, invest, and play.
New and seasoned programs can grow their organizational members’ knowledge in successful historic preservation-based economic development initiatives that advance community pride, attract visitors, and preserve local heritage through foundational and advanced sessions.
Missouri Main Street Connection is excited about the possibilities that this year’s conference theme will illuminate. We encourage local program directors, board members and volunteers, city and county elected officials, economic developers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners to come with open minds ready to learn.
